The International Information Technology and Economic Development Association (IITEDA) is organising the 8th International Conference on Information Technology and Economic Development

Theme: Utilising information technology to achieve circular economy and sustainable development

Concept Note

The world has been operating mainly the linear economy that extracts, produces, uses and dumps material and energy leading to waste, overuse and emissions release thereby causing drastic environmental damage.

Because linear economy is unsustainable to our environment, health, well-being and life, economic blocs like the EU and many governments and businesses worldwide promote the concept of circular economy (CE) which is loosely based on a fragmented collection of ideas from some scientific fields, emerging fields and semi scientific concepts. However, the concept is often defined from sustainability development and planetary boundaries on environmental sustainability but it needs scientific research to achieve its sustainable objectives because there are certain inherent challenges.

ICITED 2O21 will seek to identify these challenges and opportunities and set agenda for linking information communication and technology to different aspects of the circular economy. Prospective participants to the ICITED 2021 are hereby requested to submit research abstract in the subthemes below:

  • The circular economy and the national emission targets for sustainable development
  • Understanding simulation models of waste management and emission data in a circular economy
